Get Away from Risks and Threats

They have been part of our daily living.

We cannot totally avoid the penetration of spywares, worms, viruses, malwares, and other threats to the system or our computers. We are always exposed to such risks since we are using internet and other vectors like transfer of files through flash disks. Despite the anti-viruses and other anti-threats software that are introduced to the people nowadays, still, we cannot assure of one hundred percent virus free computer pr notebooks. But here are some easy tips to avoid these wares and viruses enter your computers:

· If you have installed an anti-virus, make sure to update it from time to time. These anti-virus companies are updating their anti-virus definitions so that their anti-virus products are able to recognized and fix any threats.

· Scan your local disk regularly.

· Avoid double clicking the mouse when you are opening any window. This would automatically run the virus or any risky wares that are contained in the window you just opened. In a matter of at least several seconds, this would affect the system of your computer.

· When inserting a flash disk into a port, simultaneously press the shift key for several seconds so as to avoid “autoplay” of the flash disk.

· When opening a window, use the browser of the window to locate the file, especially, when you are opening a file film the flash disk. This would prevent the threats to enter into your computer.

These preventions may not hundred percent assurance of free virus computer but definitely, it will help us to get away from those computer threats. As a cliché goes, prevention is better than cure.

Plastic Money

We call other people plastic when they are not real, not literally. These people are those who are posturing a very good impression and character when they are socializing with others, when in fact, when they turn their back, they are monsters.

We call our accessories plastic when they are not frail, or at least, they are less brittle. It is good to have these stuffs since it is much cheaper and practical to use nowadays. And sometimes, it is in. But money, can we have a plastic money? Definitely, yes. There are people who are already using plastic money but they are not aware that they are using one. This money is the one that we apply for when we already have a stable employment. It decorates your wallet with such cool and nice notion of other people. When you have it, it is an instant indicator that you can afford, and that you are in a good job. But for those people who are in higher class of living, plastic money is just plastic. It is easy to have one. Sometimes, it is unlimited, when the resources are almost unlimited.

Now, do you know what am I talking about? The plastic money is your credit card—the easy swipe money in the counter’s machine when you are buying something. Literally, it is plastic, but it is more convenient to use than bring your bulk of cash when you are hook in a shopping galore.

Big Bucks Reward

I saw this poster of men near in the bulletin board of the municipal hall in our town. It contained the faces of most wanted criminals in the province, in the country. Each of head has allotted certain amount for those who can give information where to find these people. I wonder how much big these amounts in summation are. Billions, I think.

It might be a cause of desperation for the authority to find these allegedly criminals. It could also be a way of helping the authorities to make the search more efficient. Come to think of it, these few numbered authorities will be looking for these more or less twenty people all over the archipelago, when will the search finish? When will these most wanted people be in jailed? And so, that’s why, there is rewarding scheme.

But don’t you think that instead of allotting these bucks for reward, it would be much better, in the long run, if it would be allotted for the additional task force that obviously may imply of tighter security. Or instead of reward, why use the amount for scholars who are pursuing their professional courses, in the long run, it would be very helpful in the productivity of the country.

It seems as if it is easy to implement such act. One will need political will and sincere civil service to make every act effective and successful. There would be, at least, less criminal in this world if they would learn how to live in the right way. It may sound so idealistic, but without this idealism, we could not initiate and take actions for the good change. All things are signed negative.

Neon Lights in the City

Giant billboards are floating in skyway. Advertisements of television shows are facing the roads. Commercial buildings are a stall as skyscrapers. The noise of the vehicles is tearing your ears. The smoke belchers are powdering your face with gray scale of dusts. People are bumping with each other. Then there is this guy who runs so fast, behind are authorities who are trying to catch the guy. And this young lady, crying, freaking out about her mobile phone being snatched. Oh well, that’s the life in the city.

There are alleys in some areas. People are grouped in tables. Smoking. Gambling. Chatting. Arguing. Even minors are holding each sticks of cigarettes, you choose, red or white, menthol or fruity. On the other side of the street is wild music. Banging. Growling. The beat of the drums vibrate the atmosphere. Worse, there are also shops of ladies. Buy one take one. Desperate enough to eran a little amount of money for survival. This is another life in the city.

Complementariness is an element of nature everywhere. Even in the city that either be hell or heaven to live in.

Are You McDonaldized?

According to the sociologist George Ritzer, we are into McDonaldization. People are used to things being done in efficient ways. It is good. Cool. But more often than not, efficiency tend to overshadow the effectiveness of a process, thus, defeating its purpose. Lots of people have been victimized of this modern culture. There is nothing wrong to adapt with the fast changing society of human race but we need not to push ourselves to live in such way. Besides, we are still capable of doing things with our senses. It is just that people become more dependent of innovations and other products of modernization. Of course, we should be radical as of these days, however, we should be rational enough to think of things that would go for continuity and the things that are really necessary of reform.

We are probably not aware that we are into it. But definitely, we are doing lots of things that fall under McDonaldization. When we eat in a fast food chain instead of eating home cooked food, that is a one proof. Even in the field of education, people resort to online studies offered by some schools. In this case, one could manage his time easily according to his own will.

In a nut shell, we fast track everything, yet, we cannot blame ourselves for doing that because the generation X is a fast track generation.

i still have hang over..
but i was not drunk last night..
in fact, i was just in my room since i arrived here in campus..
after doing some acad stuff.. i tried to work on some professional matters, re: publication.,
but i could not concentrate..
i was disturbed by the silence of my phone.
i actually wanted to make some sound but my pride overhauled me.
my pride has almost eaten myself.
i nearly started a fight.
and alas! did i..
i could not sleep..
i was awake till four in the morning..
after hundreds of messages and a call, i finally fell asleep..
i woke up by five am..
took a bath and trying to get rid of this headache.
'm still thinking of last night..
then i think of today's business.. only two hours vacant from 7 am up to 4 pm class..i'm thinking of being absent later to one of my classes..
go to the main library instead and work on my assignments..
yes..i was not able to do what i needed to do last night..
i was pre-occupied.
and i hated it.
i hate it.
and i will hate that moment forever.
i compromised my responsibilites (which was wrong, i knew)
just to give a relief for myself.
well, that's not bad, i think..
i could not do something good when something's bothering me.
probably i could have done something, but the outcome might not be good..
that would only cause me disappointment..
and that would be another mess.
i'll go now.. it's ten to seven..
i should not be late in my first class..

UP Centennial Kick Off

we went off to UP Diliman at around 11 am to 11:30,and we arrived there at around 1:30 pm. the trip was so disgusting - standing in the bus while i have my cramps. argghhh...
the writers and editors were grouped. and my buddies? migs and ralph. we went to a store first and bought some first aid stuff (i.e. gel, girly thing, candy, etc.) we finally went to the Quezon Hall. On the second floor we found there the UP President Emerlinda Roman. We asked her for an interview and she agreed. She was very accomodating, i must say. after the interview, we have picture galore with her. hahaha going back down to the crowd, we waited for the parade.
While waiting, we have taken some pictures.. some were narci pics. hahaha i have taken my first picture on the front of the Oblation Statue at Oblation Plaza. *cool* we eventually blended with the torch bearer at the left side of the Quezon Hall. There, we met the oldest centennarian of UP, Engr. Fernando Javier. He was one year older than UP and he belonged in Class 33 graduates. He was the first torch bearer (1908). We also met there the youngest torch bearer who was a 6th grader named Michael Reuben Dumlao from UP Integrated School. Other torch bearers that we met were actor Richard Gomez and Senator Franklin Drilon. We also have an interview with them, and that was so fun and exciting! ;)
After that, we have covered the following events such as sky diving, lighting of the torch, the grand concert (ryan cayabyab), and the fireworks display. oh.. it was great.. the fireworks diplay rocked the amphitheater! I mean it rocked the whole UP! It lasted for several minutes. The sky was so divert with flashing colors of green, red, yellow, violet, orange, pink, etc..
We also met our UPLB Perspective Alumni there. We missed them so much! It was some sort of reunion also for us, having a great time and making some chit-chat! ;) After this coverage where I only ate one biscuit for lunch and a bottle of mineral water for the whole coverage, everything was worth it.
Oh.. before I forgot, i also saw jessica soho, one of my favorite broadcast journalists, she waved at us but i failed to take a picture with her since she was in a hurry. tiring. enjoy. once in a lifetime experience. one of the greatest days of my life. i hope it would be a greater 2nd centennial year for next Iskolar ng Bayan.

either they are cliche as old marbles or crunchy as crackers that bluff your craving for something crispy.
you are dangerously on an edge of a cliff of corruption as your mind mingles with other corrupt minds.
you neither take the cut of a leaf nor the clash of a blade.
then, how much more the killing good of your own knife?
your ego boosts you out up to the extent of disillusion.
your pride nearly eats you.

the NBA season with Miami and San Antonio

i've seen the rankings of NBA for this season.
and i was so disappointed (but not surprised) to see the Heat at the least of the list.
they played good, but the other teams played better.
i was more disappointed to see that the LA Lakers clinged on to the top spot.
oh well, elimination is still on going.
I looked for my another team, San Antonio Spurs.
They ranked 8th.
Not bad, i must say.

for the heat, Dwyane Wade is really an asset.
They have started the season without much play of this 2006 MVP.
Shaq was not able to carry the team solely.
There are rookies, though, they have shown a good play.
But still, experience in the hard court with the other hard players is still the best coach to win the game.
It is a very big challenge for the Heat to recover from the loss of other players like Udonis Haslem (who also belong to first 5 of Heat, transferred to another NBA team).
But Coach Pat Riley is still brave enough to take the risk of not benching the rookies.
The harder they play, the tougher they will be.
And it's a good indication of trust between players and coaches.
Oh well, that;s a very important aspect to win the season.
You should follow your mentor as the mentor also helps to to develop your skills when you're still young in the game.
Anyway, there will be another season next year.
Miami Heat will still rule.
Go for the NBA Championship ring!

Lakers is no match with San Antonio!
